Fixing and Updating Printer Drivers

Even though your PC Windows computer might be perfectly well tuned-up, it might be that you cannot access your Printer devices.  There are several potential reasons for this.   It might be that this device is not compatible to your operating system, virus in your system, malware problems, conflict with another device, invalid Printer device configuration,  …  But when the case is that only this particular device is not responding, most often the trouble is with the Printer driver.

It might be that the driver is old/obsolete, invalid, missing or corrupted.  The solution for this is to fix, replace and/or update the driver in question.  To do this properly you need to identify the exact driver that is required.  The process of identification can be complicated.  You need to know the device model (or version) number, OS compatibility, manufacturer name and other details.  It’s not just enough to know that you need help with “Printer” device, but you need to know all the corresponding device information.

Downloading Driver Files

Once you know what kind of device driver you need, next step is to locate, download and install this driver. You can go directly to manufacturer’s website and search it for the Printer driver you need.  This might be a bit tedious and time-consuming since this kind of information is usually buried somewhere deep in support section of the company’s site.  What’s even worse is that some manufacturers do not even offer the driver download or they don’t keep complete archive of all the available drivers (e.g. they wouldn’t keep old driver files).

The alternative to downloading a driver from the official website is to download it from a third party server.  There are many good sites on the net that compile drivers.  You can visit one of these sites, search for Printer driver and simply download it to your hard drive.  But be careful, some of these sites disguise viruses and malware as driver files.  You might be downloading a whole lot of trouble.

Working in the multimedia industry means I use peripherals such as high-res monitors, printers and scanners as well as graphic and sound cards. But being dependent on these devices also means being dependent on drivers. Whenever a driver is outdated or invalid, the device performance suffers. Luckily I have Driver Genius to fix this situation. I don’t have to waste time searching for driver download files. Driver Genius does everything and it does it fast and right – every time!

I thought my printer has broken down... it didn’t print, it didn’t respond at all. I almost threw it out but then I remembered to check for drivers. I run Driver Genius Pro and voila! It updated all my drivers and the printer was working again, like it’s brand new!

I bought a new PC but when I tried to hook it up with my existing monitor, printer, mouse, ... I ran into a problem. The hardware didn’t respond at all. I spent days and days searching the internet for drivers that I needed. I visited manufacturers’ websites trying to locate the right driver for each device. I wasn’t even half-way there when I decided to give Driver Genius a try. What a relief! It auto-detected all the devices missing drivers and it then did the update for the missing and obsolete drivers. It works perfectly!
